The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is seeking an experienced, aggressive reporter to cover Atlanta public schools, a district that is rebuilding from a widespread probe into test cheating.

In addition to covering this district, every member of the AJC's education team is expected to write state and national trend stories as well as breaking news. The ideal candidate will possess sufficient reporting muscle to be able to write longer-range watchdog stories for Daily A1 and Sunday newspaper.

This reporter will work closely with other reporters on the team, developing and executing strong story ideas aimed at holding officials accountable for their words and actions.

Job requirements:
** Must have at least 5 years of daily newspaper reporting experience,education beat writing experience preferred
** Must be able to break news regularly for ajc.com while quickly turning well-reported dailies and substantial enterprise for Page One of the daily and Sunday newspaper
** Must be a team player, who is excellent at planning and execution of stories
** Must be adept at writing stories of moderate complexity on deadline
** Must have experience writing for print and online
** Must be able to work fairly independently in finding and developing unique local stories that interest AJC readers.
** Demonstrate an ability to unearth inefficiencies and wasteful spending of tax dollars
