The Durango Herald, a family-owned daily newspaper in spectacular Southwest Colorado, seeks an experienced copy editor/page designer to join its multimedia news desk. Duties include editing staff and wire copy, writing headlines, designing feature and news pages, and proofreading. We want someone who can write headlines that grab readers, design pages that advance stories, and edit copy for accuracy, clarity, completeness and organization.

The ideal candidate also will have at least some of the following qualifications
-- experience with digital news and content on both desktop and mobile
platforms, a foundation in CMS and CSS production technology, SEO experience,
understanding of social media and experience editing audio and video for online
and mobile devices.

Command of AP style is essential. Hours include nights and weekends.

The Herald recently moved to a new content-management system with a dynamic
web-publishing component. It also launched a new website and a redesign of the
paper. The Herald, a branch of Ballantine Communications, enjoys a proud
