| Why Me? |
What makes you the best person for your job? I am a certified teacher of English Language Arts with a decade of teaching experience in the US, Germany, and Ukraine. Teaching writing at both the secondary and university level, I specialize in an array of writing and communication skills, topics, and formats. I have taught a variety of English language related topics and have a broad and profound understanding of a diverse range of concepts and content. Not only do I utilize my knowledge and skills but I have built a considerable catalog of innovative and effective lessons and activities to strengthen the language skills of a diverse range of students' learning profiles.
What is your best project so far? Why? I adapted Barnard College’s "Reacting to the Past" curriculum to organize and direct Camp Republic, a university language and leadership program. For the camp, I authored highly detailed and ESL friendly historical scenarios for the camp's role-playing aspect as well as developed the camp's lessons and activities on project design and management. Furthermore I created a US State department sponsored grant totaling $3768.52 for Camp
Republic 2012, adhering to strict government guidelines during the writing process. Finally I orchestrated a social media campaign and utilized local media sources in order to successfully advertize the camp to Ukrainian university students.
What do your students / customers say about you? Feedback from students relates to their appreciation for my innovative, student-centered and data-driven lesson planning and curriculum that focuses on learning needs/abilities as well as interest. They enjoy my personable and empathetic nature as well as my sense of humor. They also find helpful my high attention to detail as well as strong conceptual knowledge and ability to communicate it. In 2013 the student council at BBIS awarded me the title "Teacher Who Explains Hard Things in a Fun Way." |
